Meet Matt
Hi! I'm Matt! Nice to meet you. I love using my creativity to explore new possibilities. In high school I was always interested in the new technology that was constantly coming out. Every year it seemed we got a brand-new version of the computers that could do things I never thought possible. Remember the G3 iMac? Those colored backs were awesome. I also remember my first USB stick. Suddenly I could take files from school to home and back again! Also, who would ever need 512MB! Ha!
Theater administration was my full-time job until 2020 when the world fell apart. Then like many others I had to make a pivot. I went back to technology. This time through programming. I found I liked it and was good at it. I helped a small media company here in town develop applications that were used all over the world to help bring web graphics to PowerPoint applications. I got so much joy when something I had built was helping enhance the work of others.
I'm excited to work with even more people to help bring creative solutions to their technology problems. I'm a firm believer that there are no stupid questions. Your problems are real and I'm here to help.
Meet Nate
I've been playing with computers since elementary school in the 80s and I got an early start actually working with computers for pay when I was still only around 14 years old in the early 90s, so that means I've been at this for almost 30 years. It all started with few tasks here and there for a couple small regional bulletin boards (BBSs) and internet service providers (ISPs) that were running a little-known operating system called TSX-OS.
I quickly discovered geographical boundaries were no issue thanks to the internet and I found myself doing some work for businesses in Florida, Michigan, and even Canada all before I was 16. I got my taste of what working in IT could be like early on, never looked back, and I wouldn't trade what I do for anything.
After finishing High School I joined the Navy and volunteered for Submarines. I enlisted as a Missile Technician and was assigned to my first boat, the USS Nevada (SSBN-733) Gold. On the Nevada I found myself put in charge of keeping the submarine's IT systems operational as an additional "collateral duty" which was an interesting experience to say the least. I was for the most part on my own maintaining a network that consisted of multiple Novel Netware 3.12 servers, an HP-UX server, and the eventually the additions of fancy new Windows NT and then 2000 servers.
Managing IT on a submarine had some unique challenges as it involved troubleshooting with no internet, no tech support, it was just me and those systems underway with no outside help so my ability to figure things out really came in handy! I really enjoyed the challenges that those duties presented and I really value those experiences. By the time I was assigned to my second submarine they were doing better with establishing actual IT teams on the boats, with real assignments, and since I was not in a rate that was selected for this type of work I did not get to carry on these tasks in my second command even with my previous experience, so I did have a few year break from doing IT during that period of time. Years later I have a BS in Information Technology / Security and I'm still here doing the job I love, I can't imagine doing anything else. The experience I have picked up over the years working with ISPs, managing the IT systems on a Trident Submarine, working for other MSPs, and the 17 years I spent working in hospitals and other healthcare environments is what brings me to today. I've been truly blessed with multiple amazing jobs, opportunities, and clients and I look forward to continuing work with all of the amazing people I get to interact with on a daily basis all while doing the job I love to do.
